Fees

Tuition, fees, and other charges published by the Office of the Registrar are estimates based on currently approved amounts and may not be final. Actual tuition, fees, and charges are subject to change by the Regents of the University of California and may also be affected by reductions in state funding. As a result, a student’s final balance due may differ from the amounts shown.

Tuition and Remote Instruction

Some or all instruction during the academic year may be delivered remotely. Tuition and fees are assessed regardless of the method of instruction and will not be refunded if instruction is delivered remotely for any portion of the academic year.

Published tuition and fee amounts represent currently approved or proposed levels and may be revised by the University of California as necessary. Final approved tuition and fee levels may differ from the amounts presented.

Refundable Fees

Unless otherwise noted, student fees are refundable. The following fees are not refundable:

  • Registration fee deposit
  • Student Health and Counseling Supplemental Fee
  • Student Transit Pass Fee
  • Instruments, Equipment, and Supplies Fee (DDS students only)
  • Late fees

Students may opt out of the UC Graduate and Professional Council (UCGPC) Fee by the published deadline.

Refund Schedule

UCSF follows the refund schedule established by the UC Office of the President. Please refer to the published refund schedule for applicable deadlines and refund percentages.

A separate refund process applies to the UCGPC Fee.

Students Receiving Title IV Federal Financial Aid

New students who receive Title IV federal financial aid and withdraw after registration but before the first day of instruction are eligible for a 100% refund, less an administrative fee of up to $100 or 5% of the total charges assessed, whichever is less.

The refund percentage decreases for withdrawals made after the first day of instruction. No refund is available for withdrawals after the 42nd day of instruction.

Students Not Receiving Federal Financial Aid

Continuing, readmitted, and new students who do not receive federal financial aid and withdraw after registration but before the first day of instruction are eligible for a 100% refund, less a $10 service charge.

The refund percentage decreases for withdrawals made after the first day of instruction. No refund is available for withdrawals after the 35th day of instruction.
