Program Description:
Our three year Gastroenterology & Hepatology fellowship program is fully accredited by the ACGME. Our inaugural class was in July 2009 and the fellowship program achieved a 10-year accreditation cycle by ACGME in 2019.
Our primary training sites are Community Regional Medical Center of Fresno (CRMC), Veterans Administration Central California Healthcare System (VACCHS) and the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) main campus.
Our program provides comprehensive training in gastroenterology, hepatology, and endoscopic procedures. Our fellows are exposed to an exceptionally diverse patient population with a wide spectrum of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Fellows also receive dedicated training in transplant hepatology in their UCSF main campus rotations. Our program also offers trainees ample exposure in biliary and advanced therapeutic endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound. Our program is committed to promoting clinical research that focuses on improving patient care and all fellows are expected to undertake in clinical research and quality improvement projects.
Two highly qualified physicians are admitted into the program each year. Our goal is to provide the best educational experience necessary for our fellows to become fully trained consultative gastroenterologists and develop outstanding clinicians and future leaders in academic medicine.
